The New Coin I found

by Obinna Chilekezi

Meeting you, Soxna
Has awakened me to doorsteps
Of new dreams, of living afresh.

It made me know
The real taste of human love
Flowing from human veins,
Ancient as the phantom on this horizontal stone.

You and me, me and you, the sides of a coin
And the roaring wind – blow O’ wind
Sweet and wild O’ blow

This new coin I found around the river Gambia
Is another cowry fresh and gluing …

Soxna
Your touch awakes new leaves to bud fresh birdsongs
And I cannot but to tie my cord to your trunk.
